Monique Garsoux

Monique passed away in Oktober 2025.

Monique had years of experience in the fields of audit, governance and risk in the financial and services sector. She was one of the most respected audit and internal control specialists in Belgium. As head of the ‘Audit Office’ at Belfius, she was responsible for establishing the audit processes and methodologies, as well as for providing the necessary tools and techniques. The Audit Office is also responsible for quality assurance and for all reporting to the governance bodies.

Monique had acquired several professional certifications, namely CGEIT (IT Governance), QAR (Quality Assessment Review), Chartered Director (Belgian Directors Association, today GUBERNA), and COBIT 5 Foundation.

She has been a former member of the Board of Directors of the IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors) as well as of the Board of Directors of ISACA (IT auditors).

For more than 20 years, Monique provided regularly training in audit and internal control, namely at the IIA and IFACI (Institut Français de l’Audit et du Contrôle Interne). Her broad expertise covered internal audit, risk management, internal control, QAR and governance.
